Taron Egerton and Elton John sang at the ‘Rocketman: Live in Concert’ event Thursday
Elton John has postponed his Saturday night show at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, citing illness.
The singer, 72, took to Twitter to announce the schedule change.
“To my dear fans in Indianapolis, it is with the heaviest heart that I’m forced to deliver the news that I am extremely unwell and therefore unable perform at @TheFieldhouse tonight,” he wrote.
He continued, “I absolutely hate to let my fans down, but I owe it to you to put on the best #EltonFarewellTour show possible and unfortunately that’s simply not possible… Thank you so much for your support and understanding.”
The makeup date is set for March 26, 2020. Tickets for the event scheduled tonight will be honored on the new date.
The arena also issued a statement onTwitter about the change: “Due to illness, Elton John’s concert slated for tonight, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2020. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused by this necessary change and wish Elton a speedy recovery.”

March 26 is the third date attached to this performance for John, who plans to stop touring in 2021.
The show shifted one day from Oct. 25 to Oct. 26 because of NBA scheduling in Toronto.
Bankers Life Fieldhouse revised the date because Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena postponed John’s appearance there to accommodate an NBA game announced in August.
The Raptors’ home opener, a champions’ date mandated by the NBA, bumped a John show from Oct. 22 to Oct. 24. (Toronto defeated New Orleans 130-122 in overtime.)
Because of concerns related to traveling from Canada, Bankers Life Fieldhouse pushed back its John show by a day.
“The changed date will provide sufficient time for the tour’s extensive production to pass customs and arrive and unload in Indianapolis,” the arena’s management explained in a statement. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this required change.”
