According to The Hollywood Reporter, former One Direction star Harry Styles is in early talks to play Prince Eric in “The Little Mermaid.”
The cover of Rolling Stone’s forthcoming September issue made quite a splash with Harry Styles fans.
The former One Direction member, who released his debut solo album in May 2017 and hasn’t shared much new music since, appears on next month’s cover of the famed music mag, shirtless while wearing a cross necklace with some of his many tattoos on full display.
The full feature with Styles hasn’t been published digitally yet, with the magazine’s Instagram account writing, “Here’s a first look at our upcoming cover featuring Harry Styles. You can pick it up on newsstands September 3rd.”
The magazine’s cover reveal sparked a frenzy among Styles’ most devoted fans on social media, who celebrated his return with breathless adoration, with one declaring, “My body is ready.”
“One day Harry Styles will stop leaving me speechless. Today is not that day,” one fan commented.
“harry styles is a true blessing isn’t he,” another fan wrote, while one claimed they “couldn’t tweet about that Harry Styles cover in a timely manner because I was busy sending it privately to everyone I’ve ever met.”
Other fans speculated that his new cover story meant Styles would be releasing his second album in the near future.
“‘Can we survive extreme heat?’ asks Rolling Stone, pairing it with the presumed announcement of Harry Styles’ second album. Obviously not,” one Twitter user commented.
Since he released his debut album, Styles has mostly dabbled in acting, appearing in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning 2017 film “Dunkirk” and, more recently, fending off rumors that he would be appearing in Disney’s live-action “Little Mermaid” film as Prince Eric.
