Kim Porter, ex-girlfriend and mother of Diddy’s children has died. She was 47 years old.
A tragic mystery is solved: Actress and model Kim Porter, found dead in November in her San Fernando Valley home, died from pneumonia, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office announced Friday.
“The manner of death was certified as natural,” according to a statement released by Sarah Ardalani, spokeswoman for the Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
The autopsy report described “lobar pneumonia” as an infection of the lung caused by bacteria.
“Immune cells invade the air spaces (where oxygen is taken in) and this is accompanied with necrosis (death of cells). Pneumonia decreases the lungs’ ability to take in oxygen and over time it can cause sudden death.”
Porter was 47 when she was found unresponsive in her bed at home in Toluca Lake on Nov. 15, 2018, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
She had been feeling unwell with flu-like symptoms for about four days before her death, the autopsy report says, and her symptoms of coughing, congestion, sweats, sore throat and body aches worsened over the next days.
She saw her doctor and was given Toradol, an anti-inflammatory drug usually administered for pain, plus saline fluids and vitamins. The day before her death she reported a streak of blood in her phlegm. The night before her death, she watched TV and went to bed. She was found the next morning.
An autopsy was performed the next day and a cause of death was deferred pending further testing.
According to the coroner’s report, Porter’s body was screened for traces of alcohol and a battery of drugs, including barbiturates, cocaine and opioids, and all the results were negative. Same for the tests for a list of viruses, such as adenovirus and influenza A and B.
Porter and Diddy, born Sean Combs, were no longer a couple but they were still close, sharing three children: son Christian, 20, and twin daughters D’Lila Star and Jessie James, who turn 12 next month. They also raised 27-year-old Quincy Brown, Porter’s son with singer and record producer Al B. Sure.
