Tim McGraw has announced a release date for his first solo album in five years.

“Here On Earth” is set to drop Aug. 21, the country music superstar announced Friday, giving fans a teaser of what to expect late summer.

The music video for “Here On Earth” starts with an inspirational message flashed on the screen — “As we go through life it helps to remember that we are together here on earth” — and, like many songs released during the coronavirus pandemic, features photos and video clips of everyday people.

During the video, people who’ve experienced hardships speak about how they’ve turned things around. “I used to be from a gang from my neighborhood,” one man says, “but now I’m proud to say that I’m from the best ‘hood ever, and that’s fatherhood.”

The single features uplifting lyrics, addressing some of life’s major milestones, such as: “At his mean momma’s // On a Saturday night // Buy him a Corona // In the blink of an eye // There’s a ring on her finger // But through him parking lot drives // And they’re standin’ in the kitchen // And there’s two pink lines // Nine months later, you’re breathin’ // And you’re the reason // They’re here on Earth.”

“Here’s On Earth” is McGraw’s first major project since returning to Big Machine Records and his 16th studio album. He has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.

Ahead of Mother’s Day, another track from the upcoming album, “I Called Mama,” encouraged listeners to pick up the phone and talk to their moms.

McGraw has been one of many musicians who’ve helped keep housebound Americans entertained during the coronavirus lockdown. In March, he started the “Deep Cuts Challenge,” in which he covered an older song and performed it on social media. Vince Gill and others followed suit. He and wife Faith Hill took part in Feed the Front Line, a virtual COVID-19 fundraiser.
